A free memory-writing worksheet

One small memory
is enough to start.

A kitchen you knew by heart. An object you still keep. A photograph with a story outside the frame. Choose one and follow five questions, at your own pace.

Your own words · No account needed · Free text download

An old photographNo account needed

Question 1 of 5 · Skip any question

Keep the photo beside you; no upload is needed. Describe visible details before interpreting them.

0 / 600 characters

You can restore your notes in this tab for 24 hours after your last edit. Closing the tab can remove them. Download a copy to keep them. No photo upload is needed.

A little structure, without filling in the gaps

  1. Choose one starting point. You do not need a complete life story or a dramatic event.
  2. Answer what you can. Follow a place, a detail and a moment. Skip any question that does not fit.
  3. Keep your words. Review, copy or download the answers. An approximate date can stay approximate.

The worksheet puts your answers together without rewriting them. A remembered detail, something visible in a photo and a story told by a relative can all be useful; label which is which. It is fine to leave a question unanswered.

An invented example

An ordinary detail can be a beginning

“I put my school bag under the kitchen table. The chair nearest the door always scraped the floor. I remember waiting there for my brother, but I am not sure which year it was.”

That is enough for a note. You can add what happened next later. The worksheet will not invent the year, your brother's words or how either of you felt.

Before you begin

Do I need an account or a photograph to upload?

No. The worksheet works right on this page without signing in. If you choose a photograph, keep it beside you and describe it; the worksheet does not upload it.

Where do my notes go?

The worksheet saves a draft in this browser tab. It can restore your notes for 24 hours after your last edit; an expired draft is cleared when you reopen the worksheet. Closing the tab can remove it. Copy or download the text to keep it longer. The worksheet does not send your answers to a server or AI service.

Can I continue the same memory in MemoirWell?

Yes. Choose “Continue with these notes” and sign in in the same tab. Your notes will be available beside an interview answer, where you can choose to add them. They will not overwrite an existing answer. Saving answers and asking for an AI draft follow the studio's separate consent steps.

What if I do not remember much?

Write the part you do remember, say what is uncertain, and leave the rest open. You can also choose another place or object. The exercise does not promise to recover forgotten memories.
